Appointment of iNEDs to LPPM

The London Platinum and Palladium Market is pleased to announce the appointment of three Independent Non-Executive Directors

The London Platinum and Palladium Market is pleased to announce the appointment of three Independent Non-Executive Directors to work alongside the Chairman and Management Committee strengthening corporate governance and independence to the Association.  Alongside the Chairman, they will form the Supervisory Committee of the LPPM with effect from 1st January 2025.

 

Dr Paul Fisher OBE:

Paul Fisher is an economist who enjoyed a 26-year career as a senior Bank of England official, including 5 years as a member of the Monetary Policy Committee and 2 years as Deputy Head of the Prudential Regulation Authority. Since 2016, Paul has been chairman of the LBMA and a Non-Executive Director at the UK Debt Management Office. He is a Visiting Professor at 3 UK Universities and has a number of other academic affiliations. He has worked extensively on financial policy and climate change both in Europe and the UK.

  • Fellow at the Cambridge University Institute for Sustainability Leadership.
  • Governor, National Institute of Economic and Social Research.
  • Member of the Advisory Board, UEA Centre for Competition Policy.

Paul teaches post-graduate courses for WBS, LIBF and the European University Institute, Florence.  He is the editor of ’Making the Financial System Sustainable’, November 2020, Cambridge University Press.

Tim Pearce:

After a number of years in Johnson Matthey’s industrial Sales and Marketing departments, Tim joined the JM London trading team in 1989, as their Platinum Group Metals trader. After managing Johnson Matthey’s Precious Metals desk Tim was appointed General Manager Trading in 2005, before being appointed Global Trading Director in 2016. He retired from full time work with Johnson Matthey in February 2019. From 2019 onwards Tim has been working as a part time consultant to the precious metals industry.

Tim was elected to the LPPM Management Committee in 2006 and was Chairman of the Physical Committee from 2009 until 2015. He was appointed Chairman of the LPPM in 2015 until standing down in early 2019. From 2020 he has been Chair of the LPPM Responsible Sourcing Review Committee.

 

Hans-Guenter Ritter:

Hans Ritter began his career in the precious metals industry in 1981 as a trader at Degussa AG. In 1989 he moved to Heraeus Metals Germany, where he then took on the role of Chief Dealer with P&L responsibility for the desk in 1992. In 2005 he was promoted to Managing Director with global responsibility for the worldwide precious metals trading activities in the Heraeus Group at three locations Hanau/Hong Kong/New York and later in Shanghai (founded in 2013). Under his responsibility, the internationalization of precious metals trading activities was further advanced and the profitability of the business was continuously expanded. In December 2020, Hans Ritter decided to retire. Since then, he has continued to support Heraeus Metals as an advisory. He also took over as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bauer Walser AG in 2021.

 

I am delighted to have Paul, Tim and Hans joining the LPPM board as Non-Executive Directors and I very much look forward to working with them all in the coming year.
