The LPPM is today launching the Responsible Platinum and Palladium Guidance.
The LPPM will be following the OECD five-step due diligence process as laid out in the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas.
The Responsible Platinum and Palladium Guidance has been developed in co-operation with the LBMA and has undergone an industry consultation over the past six months. The Guidance will come into force from 1st January 2019. The LPPM will work closely with the LPPM Good Delivery Refiners throughout 2019 to make sure that their systems are ready to comply with the requirements of the Guidance. The first mandatory audits will commence on the 1st of January 2020.
The LPPM will co-ordinate closely with the LBMA to ensure that Good Delivery refiners of Platinum, Palladium, Gold and Silver can combine the audit visits for all four metals wherever possible.
